Acorn Heritage Services

Heritage Services and Aaron Marcavitch, AHS president, welcome you to
the online presence of this multifaceted heritage consulting firm. Acorn
Heritage Services first started to provide services in the last part
of 2006. At this point Aaron had collected over ten years of knowledge and
experience with historic preservation, design, education, small museum exhibit
design, and computer support for non-profits. The mission of Acorn Heritage
Services is to provide quality heritage support documents and projects
in a timely manner to the non-profit and government sectors. We do this
through a commitment to producing products that are not only in response
to service requests, but that can stand alone in the wider heritage field.
We work with clients to understand their needs and goals. We make sure that
projects are not simply meeting a requirement, but that they are self-sustaining
documents and projects that can be grown in the future. We endeavor to use
technology in all steps of the projects. We treat everyone with the attitude
that the heritage we are all trying to save is important to the client first
- but that the community is just as important.
We hope that you explore the various options that Acorn Heritage Services can provide. First and foremost, we are a preservation planning consulting group. We provide services to document and plan for the future of buildings and communities. These include National Register Nominations, Historic Structure Reports, Historic Resource District Surveys, and Local Preservation Plans. One our specialties is the documentation of "Recent Past" structures - or those under 50 years of age. We also can provide archaeological support through our sub-contractors.
However, Acorn Heritage Services also provides consulting in a wide range of other areas for the historic home owner. Our second area is the design consulting services. This will usually include working with clients to determine how to best restore their homes, but may include creating ideas on how to add on effectively to historic homes. Acorn Heritage Services also provides house history and deed research for those seeking to better understand their home. We are also available for basic genealogy research. While we are not certified as a genealogist, we can provide services that might help you better understand your own family or the family that lived in your home before you.
Acorn Heritage Services provides support to local heritage programs through our educational and exhibit programs. We can provide technology based education programs tailored to meet your needs. This could include the creation of a walking tour, an online educational program, or perhaps an on-site program on the history of various topics. We can develop podcasts or video programs. We can create panels for use in exhibits or create innovative documents for your visitors to use while exploring the programs.
Finally, Acorn Heritage Services can also provide direct computer and technology support. We have been using a variety of platforms (Mac or PC) and a wide variety of programs. We can develop a database for your organization to organize your information. We can develop a web site for your exhibits - and find ways of hosting that website. We can also develop a wide range of video or audio based programs - or set you up to record the information to be created into that digital video or audio (podcast). Acorn Heritage Services is most proud of our commitment to technology.
Acorn Heritage Services encourages you to explore our website a bit more to understand what we can do for you. If you have any questions, please be sure to email or call 508-325-6231. We would be thrilled to talk to you more about what we can do.
